In our opinion, and in the opinion of our customers, the Gateway FPD 2185, 2275 & 2485 W Flat Panels are the best monitors made. They have an extremely sharp picture, and the best colors available on a flat panel.
They are extremely popular with anyone who works with colors, day traders, and any other heavy user. Many people replace these monitors with other brands only to find the cheaper units don't have the same quality of picture, they may cause headaches and eye strain and have a lower level of productivity.
People love these monitors so much and expect them to run forever and they get quite frustrated when they fail especially because of the high initial cost of about $600. However, most quality LCD monitors can fail in 2 to 4 years. Low quality LCD monitors can fail in 4 to 12 months.
The advantages on these monitors other than the exceptional picture quality are the height adjustments, the left-right swive ability, the front and back tilt feature, and a pivot from landscape to horizontal viewing. Other features are "Picture in Picture", analog and digital signals, HDTV ready, composite, component, and S-video, and USB connections.

no money up front on our repairs.
If we can't repair the monitor I
will tell you why. If you need it back we have a $49.00 bench charge and
we will reassemble the unit for return to you, or at your option, we will scrap
it here and there will still be no charge to you.
It usually
takes 3 working days to repair and test the monitor and then we will give
you a call for pickup, or it's on its way back to you via the shipping carrier
for our national customers.
These flat repair rates are for units not previously worked on elsewhere.
About 98% of the time we can stay with the
amount quoted and your approval will be needed before any changes to the quote
are made. Our warranty is on the entire unit, not just the parts
repaired for 30 days. Repaired units generally run for years again.
BUYING A REPLACEMENT MONITOR ON E-BAY RATHER THAN REPAIR
These units usually start failing once a week, and progress to failing several times per day. Before they go solid dead, a popular option is to sell them on E-bay - since the only warranty is "not dead on arrival". We usually get a call a few weeks later with someone wanting to get it repaired after having bought on E-bay. We know this monitor, common sense would tell you that it isn't logical that someone would get rid of a working, large, premium monitor. The usual price for these monitors are $500 + with a real warranty. We can save you about 50% - 80% by repairing it and you know what you have.

Take off the stand to reduce the shipping weight, now you are shipping a 21" "book" with a weight that averages about 18 lbs. Cardboard over the screen and bubble wrap work well. Insert it in a strong cardboard box with about 2 -3 inches on all sides. A box in a box is a good method.
