INFORMATION
ON THE REPAIR OF LAPTOP SCREENS
It is common for laptops to become dim or
lose their picture. Usually this happens in about 2-4 years of use. The cause
of this can be from multiple reasons; usually people diagnose it as a backlight
or inverter problem. It can be either, both, or something else.
You don't need to diagnose the source of the
problem, we can do that for you and help you from
buying unnecessary parts if you try to attempt the repair yourself. We would
also caution you from having someone else install the parts where they have you
purchase the parts; you could end up with a still unrepaired
laptop and bad or unnecessary parts. Laptops are not made for the average
consumer to attempt the repair. The tolerances are tight on laptops and the
parts fragile. We can fix almost all laptops if we are the first ones to repair
the unit. Laptops fail in certain ways and we have found that once someone
attempts a repair, the laptop develops other issues that are much harder to
diagnose, or other parts are needed due to breakage
Power problems can arise from the power
supply or power jack connection and we can usually repair this on a component
level and get you back on the superhighway. This usually takes 1 to 2 days for
the repair.
Hinges, bad keys on the keyboard, on/off
switches, and cracked cases can be fixed if they interfere with the daily use
of the laptop. They are generally more economical to repair if you do it in
conjunction with another repair.
Cracked screens happen frequently and can be
replaced with the same glossy type screen as you had, or your screen can be
upgraded to a glossy type screen. It is more economical to replace a cracked
screen rather than buying another laptop if your laptop is otherwise performing
as you need. You avoid the hassle of :
The average price of the laptop sold today
is $1,100, resulting in a savings from replacing a screen rather than
purchasing a new laptop of about $750.00 +. If your current laptop was performing
as you required before the problem developed, it is much more economical and cash
saving to repair a laptop or replace a screen than buying a new unit. We do not
sell refurbished laptops.
We
realize that it is hard to be without your laptop. We usually diagnose the
laptop the day we receive it. After the repair we test it up to a day,
determined by the nature of the problem, and then arrange shipping back to you
on the day it leaves test. Total turnaround time is usually 3 working days. Thus you are without your laptop for a minimum
period of time. If parts are needed they are usually ordered the day of the
repair, and about 2-3 additional days needed for the repair, not 30 days as
typical in the big box stores.
Shipping on laptops is relatively easy and
is done all the time across the country. We strongly recommend purchasing a
laptop box which runs about $10 and you can reuse indefinitely for all types of
laptops. See our page on shipping hints.
